To love God and people above all else
"but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth." Acts 1:8

If we are honest, many of us as followers of Christ often find ourselves struggling to be actively and intentionally sharing our faith on a regular basis. This is one reason God desires us to not only be sharing our faith individually, but also corporately, in community with other believers. Cherrydale encourages our members to be witnesses for Christ through the small group they are a member of in the following ways:

Prayer, Accountability, and Brainstorming

Every small group should regularly spend time sharing about those they are witnessing to, praying for these individuals and brainstorming together how to best address the issues or questions those they are witnessing to are raising.

Serving Together

Small Groups are encouraged to be involved together in witnessing. Some examples of what this could involve are:
  • Invite neighbors, friends, co-workers to a BBQ or dessert event with your Small Group
  • Invite International Students (see Friendship Partners on the Witness to Internationals page) for "thematic dinners" to explain American holidays and culture (i.e. Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, the Super Bowl, Mother's Day, etc.)
  • Join a “Disciple-Making” small group whose primary purpose is evangelism and starting new small groups with those who respond to the gospel.
For more information on how to witness together as a small group or how to join a “Disciple-Making” small group, contact Pastor Tom Oostdyk.
